Independence DAY

Ah well.. it’s ironic how my first post is on the day we celebrate our independence. Similar to that I introduce my independence today by blogging today.

So independence.. what does it really mean? And I’m not even beginning to talk about the level of independence at the country’s end.. I’m talking about you and me.. in a time where we believe we have almost achieved a third world country status, how truly free are we?

True, we don’t have as many restrictions as earlier.. there’s no dowry, no compulsory parda nor is there a madatory “kar” system.. but isn’t there still Karma that prevails?
I mean, how free are our thoughts actually? There’s always fear, anxiety or something ruling our minds.. and once these give way to a few minutes of calm entertainment, there’s the advertisements bit! Any and everybody’s trying to influence either our thoughts or our purchase.. in this prevalent competitiveness, how truthful is the truth itself?

So if we truly are free.. what are we free from? Some may say tyranny.. but does the tyranny of the self truly end? I mean there’s always one way a things is perceived.. like single mothers are problems, women are still molested and afraid to talk about it.. even a small inquiry from just dial leads to 10 other calls from 10 other brands enquiringly and thus gleefully eating into my free time.

The only effort of this post is to make each one of think and make his/her own perception and/or definition of independence. It’s a pity if we’re independent and can’t do this much.

So I encourage everyone I know to, on this independence day.. think for yourself. Redefine your own boundaries, redefine you own character, redefine your own society. Cause in this fast paced world everything changes in the flick of a second, including your perception and definition of freedom. I just decided to break my own.
